An Isle of Wight holidaymaker has seen their classic VW car seized by police after it was discovered to be uninsured.

The Island's roads policing unit spotted the blue Volkswagen Golf on the A3056 Sandown Road at Hale Common, near The Fighting Cocks, yesterday (Tuesday, May 21).

After pulling the driver over, the vehicle was taken by Bartletts Service Station and seized by officers as part of the ongoing Operation Tutelage.

Andy, from the roads policing unit, said: "This vehicle is visiting the Island on holiday but has no insurance.

"Therefore, it's being seized and secured until the owner can get appropriate insurance for it."
