Islanders are urged to support a 150-mile challenge that will culminate on the Isle of Wight - with free entry at Goddards Brewery as part of the celebrations.

150MND is coming to the Island after starting their journey from Twickenham Stadium and walking to Southampton.

The aim of the challenge is to reach £150,000 by walking over 150 miles, for MNDA and My Name’5 Doddie Weir Foundation.

Everyone can get behind them when they arrive on the Island on Friday (May 17) to the sound of Derek Sandy singing Welcome to the Isle of Wight, as they get off the midday car ferry at East Cowes at 1pm.

Organisers are hoping people will gather to give their support as they begin the Island leg of their walk.

The aim is to raise awareness of MND, which affects around 16 people on the Island, and for which there is no cure.

The first day on the Island will see the team walk from East Cowes to Bembridge, then on to Niton on Saturday (May 18).

On Sunday (May 19) they will walk from Niton to Yarmouth, then on Monday (May 20) from Yarmouth to Cowes.

On Monday afternoon is the event at Goddards. The attraction will be open for free (no membership required) from 3pm to 8pm.

Entertainment will include Raw Samba, DJ Boom Party Live with Daniel James, magic, and The Long Island Stompers line dancing group.

The Firkin Deck will be open for drinks and there will be a food truck on the lawn.
