An Isle of Wight man denies assaulting his ex-partner by allegedly throwing a table at her head and attacking her with a hammer.

Jamie Matlock, of Hope Mead, Newchurch, pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage at the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 10.

It is alleged that the 43-year-old assaulted his former partner at her address in Niton on May 8.

Mr Matlock denies kicking her, punching her, throwing a side table and using a hammer to attack her.

The case was sent to the IW Crown Court for a pre-trial and preparation hearing on June 10.

Magistrates remanded Mr Matlock into custody until his trial date.
