After years of delays and setbacks, the Isle of Wight's controversial so-called 'planning bible' has finally been passed.

An extraordinary meeting of the full council was held at County Hall tonight (Wednesday).

The draft Island Planning Strategy (IPS) was on the agenda.

In the end, 27 councillors voted in favour, with ten against.

Discussions have been ongoing for seven years, with disagreements about what needed to be changed, including worries about excluding agricultural land.
