A MAN suffered serious burns in a fire at an address near an Isle of Wight village.
Emergency services were called to the fire on the A3020 Shanklin Road, near Whiteley Bank, during the early hours of this morning (Sunday).

Firefighters were called out at 1.58am.

An officer at the scene said a man inside the house was seriously injured with burns and was taken to hospital.
The cause or extent of the fire is not known, but there appeared to be no damage on the road-facing side of the property.
Police also attended and set up a cordon around the semi-detached two-storey property and were still managing traffic while fire officers carried out investigations in the building.
