A SCAFFOLD company owner on the Isle of Wight who had failed to complete a probation order handed to him for a domestic incident a month before the first Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, was handed a similar punishment to complete.

Jason Stone, of Garfield Road, Ryde, appeared before Island magistrates on Friday, April 19, to be resentenced for using violence to gain entry to a property.

Subsequently, Island magistrates handed him an 18-month probation order, with 100 hours' unpaid work and 30 rehabilitation sessions to complete.

A Probation Service officer reported that although Covid lockdowns had hampered managing Stone, he was not getting in touch with probation and was very hard to track down, especially after moving house twice.

On January 3, after the probation officer located Stone, he claimed he was unable to complete the unpaid work because of undiagnosed back problems.

"This order has been running for more than four years and he has not completed any elements of it," Mrs Wells told the bench.

For Stone, Oscar Vincent said Probation had problems managing their programmes due to Covid and his client started his own business since the offence.

Magistrates revoked the order and handed 39-year-old Stone a new one for a year, within which he must complete 75 hours' work and 15 rehabilitation sessions.
