Covid-19 vaccinations are starting up again, at St Mary’s Hospital, for Isle of Wight residents aged 75 years and older, residents in care homes, and young people aged 6 months and over with severe immunosuppression.

If you are eligible, you will likely be invited for a jab by your GP, but you can also book using the National Booking System: by calling 119 or by using the NHS App, until June 30.

The St Mary’s Vaccination Hub will also be open as a walk-in service from Monday, but those behind it say booking an appointment helps keep waiting times down.

The vaccination hub will be open between 7.45am and 5.45am, from April 22 to May 30, from Monday to Thursday, except bank holidays.

Between June 1 and June 27, it will be open on Tuesday and Thursday, between 7.45am and 1.45pm.

Sue Lightfoot, clinical lead, said: "If you’re at increased risk of illness from Covid-19, getting a vaccination gives you good protection and helps to reduce your risk of getting seriously ill and needing hospital care or much worse.

"The vaccine also reduces your risk of catching and spreading the virus and protects against the different strains circulating in our communities.

"Viruses change and our protection fades over time, so these vaccinations are really important for people with severe immunosuppression."

There will also be roving clinics at community venues, in June.
