If you're after a messy burger in East Cowes you should give this one a go.

East Side Kitchen, East Cowes, is a brunch and lunch truck, perfectly positioned to service hungry drivers and their passengers stalled in the adjacent ferry marshalling yard.

You can even keep your car's upholstery clean by eating at one of the picnic benches.

Wrestle with your own conscience about whether or not it's appropriate to have a burger for breakfast, but this matter did not take us long to consider.

Brunch buns and bowls were also on offer but having already enjoyed the EastSide Smoky Joe Smash burger, this time we ordered the Gochu Kluck'in burger; appropriately described as sticky grilled chicken.

No feeble patties of processed breast-meat, the burger contained succulent fresh chicken thighs, simply dripping with umami-rich gochujang mayo and K-BBQ sauce.

This saucy treat came with as many as three napkins and you'd better believe we needed them all. Kimchi, American cheese, crispy onions and gherkin slices were struggling to be contained within the simple bun.

A few chopped spring onions or sweet pickled red onions might have been expected, but East Side Kitchen was keeping it pure, and frankly, this worked - making it all about all that awesome sauce.

Alongside we had loaded tater tots, to share. Tater tots? You've heard of them, right?

Well, if not, you soon will, because we predict that the only thing stopping this US delicacy from dominating the UK takeout market is the ridiculous name.

Imagine little popcorn-sized nuggets of hash brown, deep-fried until crispy, and then smothered with crunchy onions and more of that Asian saucy goodness.

Come in, shoestring fries and triple-cooked chips, your time is up.

East Side Kitchen is excellent value and offers a hearty Korean-inspired cuisine with an authentic street-food vibe.

This Asian-inspired fast food adds to the decent range of dining places in East Cowes.

Like several other venues, it's open in daytime only, perhaps reflecting the peripatetic nature of their audiences, but we were pleased to see that East Side Kitchen is promising a few evening sessions - so look out for those.

Next time we're mainland-bound, we'll be hoping for a delayed ferry, simply so we have an excuse to eat East Side Kitchen's loaded tater tots.
