Isle of Wight high street Cowes hit by power cut and flooding

Repairs are underway after a power cut affected a flood-hit high street on the Isle of Wight.

Businesses and properties in and around Cowes High Street are without electricity this morning (Tuesday).

It follows overnight flooding, caused by what the Environment Agency predicts are some of the highest tides the Island has seen.

The power outage was first reported at 11.44pm.

A total of 12 postcode areas and 21 customers are affected, Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has said.

SSEN hopes to have power back on fully by 5pm today.

Engineers are on-site.

Meanwhile, there are also cancellations on Red Funnel's Red Jet this morning.
