Coverage of the Isle of Wight Festival 2023, and the Isle of Wight community station, Vectis Radio, have been shortlisted for a national broadcasting award.

At the 2024 Audio and Radio Industry Awards (ARIAS), Isle of Wight Festival Coverage could win the Best Coverage of an Event, but it must beat stiff competition from BBC Radio 2 in the Park, The Ryder Cup and Windrush 75, among the shortlisted nominees.

Meanwhile, Vectis Radio is in the running for Community Station of the Year, for the second consecutive year.

Broadcaster Ian Mac said: “It is a real honour and a testament to the station's consistency and growth. We have an amazing team."

Broadcaster Kieren Thomson said: “For such a small team to make an impact recognised by our peers is not only a credit to everyone at Vectis Radio’s hard work, but also amplifies what community radio is all about.”

The award was handed out for the first time last year, by the Radio Academy, and Vectis Radio won gold.

Among the other shortlisted stations in the category are ALL FM and RNIB Connect Radio.

A glitzy award ceremony will be held in London, on May 7.
