Fears of another landslip in Luccombe on the Isle of Wight are unfounded, HM Coastguard has confirmed to the County Press.

As previously reported, rescue teams from Ventnor and Bembridge were sent to investigate reports of a fall at 7.20pm last night (Thursday, April 4).

HM Coastguard confirmed to the County Press a landslide had occurred in the area.

A spokesperson has since said information it sent out last night was 'incorrect'.

This morning, they said: "No signs were found of an incident or anyone in distress."

Asked whether teams would be investigating again in daylight, coastguard said: "The incident has been closed, so it is unlikely unless new information comes to light."

The Isle of Wight Council has said council officers have been out to inspect morning and cannot see any evidence of a recent cliff fall.
