A POPULAR Isle of Wight hotel is set to officially re-open this summer, following a major refurbishment.

In February of last year, it was revealed the Albion Hotel, which is in a prime position at Freshwater Bay, had been bought by A2K Leisure.

The iconic hotel had previously been owned by the Spyker family, and Surrey-based A2K Leisure purchased the building for an undisclosed sum.

Its new owners pledged a multi-million-pound refurbishment of the building, promising "to bring the hotel up to date whilst retaining its 300 years of rich heritage".

"It will become one of the hottest destinations on the South Coast over the next few years," said A2K Leisure’s David Walker previously.

William Warnock, partner in Moore Barlow’s commercial property team, led the deal.

Now, the hotel is finally set to open its doors once again - on June 1.
