A POPULAR Isle of Wight seaside village has been voted as the most relaxing in the country, a recent study has revealed.

According to UK Saunas’ study of wellbeing and relaxation, the most relaxing seaside destination to visit is St Helens on the Isle of Wight.

The study was inspired by a survey from VisitEngland, which revealed 6.5 million Britons had planned an overnight holiday in the UK for Easter weekend.

Brian Clarke, wellness expert and director of UK Saunas, said: “St Helens stands out as one of the most relaxing seaside destinations to visit.

“Especially considering the increasing mental health challenges that are exacerbated by the cost-of-living crisis, which has led to more Brits taking staycations than overseas holidays in the first place.

“St Helens' natural, tranquil ambience makes it an ideal sanctuary for stress relief.

“The serene coastline, accompanied by the soothing sound of waves and invigorating sea breeze, offers a therapeutic environment proven to reduce anxiety and depression levels.”

UK Saunas says 45.8 million adults in the UK experience anxiety and depression on any given week, but studies have demonstrated seaside trips provide a notable decrease in cortisol levels, the stress hormone, offering a much-needed respite from the daily grind.
