AN ISLE of Wight mother says her young son remains traumatised, almost a year after he was the victim of a mugging in Shanklin.

Now, a fundraiser has been launched, to help Archie try get over the terrifying ordeal.

Rachael Morris says her 10-year-old son has not been the same since the incident.

Now, family friend Kirsty Wright, has launched a GoFundMe page to try to aid his recovery.

The GoFundMe page for Archie has already raised just over £1,800.

On the fundraising page, Kirsty wrote: “Archie is the most kind, caring, lovely boy, and has really suffered since this attack.

“He completely lost his confidence and has stress and anxiety, getting rashes over his body and losing patches of hair.

“His nerves have been really bad. I’ve noticed a massive change in him."

“The first phone call I had was from a stranger, saying my son had been attacked," said Rachael.

She told the County Press her son was hit in the nose, pushed to the ground and had his bag taken.

A passer-by gave chase and retrieved the stolen bag.

Archie was previously outgoing but has become scared and no longer goes out on his own.

He is on a waiting list for therapy and to see a dermatologist, say Rachael and Kirsty.

The funds would be used for treats, including paying for him to go kickboxing, to go to Butlin’s and "to make him happy, because it’s been so hard for him."

“He just doesn’t seem to be getting over it. I feel like he hasn’t had any closure," Rachael said.
