ISLE of Wight emergency service teams are responding to a second incident involving a person stuck in mud today (Sunday) – and in the same location.

Among those called to the scene near Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park are two fire crews from Newport and Ryde.

They were alerted at around 2.30pm.

Bembridge, Ventnor and Needles Coastguard Rescue Teams are also in attendance, as well as Bembridge RNLI and paramedics. 

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: "Two women became stuck in mud.

"The first was able to recover herself.

"The second was extracted from the mud by coastguard rescue teams and taken by lifeboat to the lifeboat station, where she was met by the ambulance service for assessment."

Earlier today, a woman and her dog were rescued from waist-deep mud in the area.

Coastguard, firefighters, police and paramedics were all called to the scene near Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park.

The woman – who called 999 – and her dog were extracted from the mud by coastguard rescue teams and firefighters.

They were brought back to shore by lifeboat and taken to Bembridge Lifeboat Station, where the woman was assessed by paramedics.
