A GRUELLING walk around the Isle of Wight over two days in aid of a charity that supports those diagnosed with a brain tumour, is being undertaken by a man who lost his mum to it.

Phil Coe is set to conquer the gruelling Follow the Seagulls charity walk, in memory of his late mother who died two years ago, and in aid of the Brainstrust charity over the weekend of April 13-14.

Phil's stamina will be put to the test with a demanding trek around the Isle of Wight, not simply to fundraise, but also to enhance people's knowledge about the needs of those diagnosed with brain tumours.

Following his mother's death after her retirement from a brain tumour, Phil found Brainstrust a great source of support.

Phil, who has so far raised £270 towards his £500 target, said the charity walk also plays a crucial role in his own healing.

"Symptoms changed every day and my feet didn't touch the floor, but I know the charity was there for me as I went through this horrific journey with mum," added Phil.

He also pointed out the alarming rates of diagnosis, stating: "Thirty people in the UK will be diagnosed with a brain tumour today."
