Head on crash closes main road through Isle of Wight village

Emergency teams have been sent to a head-on crash which has closed a main road through an Isle of Wight village this evening (Wednesday, March 13).

The two-vehicle crash happened on Main Road in Havenstreet, near The Little Cow Shed and the junction of Firestone Copse Road.

Police, fire and ambulance crews are in attendance, with firefighters from Ryde, Newport and East Cowes sent to the scene.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident at 8.36pm.

The County Press has been told the incident was reported to emergency teams as a ‘head-on collision’.

It is understood that the road has been closed.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary have been contacted for a statement.
