TWO-TIME English Kickboxing Champion, Jess Roper, aims to inspire Isle of Wight students to go on be the best they can be.

A black belt, Jess has been touring schools nationwide — recently visiting her 101st — and making a positive impact on more than 20,000 students over the past two years.

Jess, on a mission with the national Sports for Schools initiative, has a simple, yet empowering message to youngsters: "Dream big, start small, never give up."

Although a double champion since 2019 in the U53.5kg and U56kg categories, both sanctioned by the World Ring Sport Association, Jess's greater mission is to raise future champions beyond the belts and trophies.

She teaches that the toughest battles often occur within one's own mind.

Jess said: "Every champion has a coach in their corner. Everyone needs that support and encouragement, positive role models, the right environment.

"Becoming a champion beyond the belts, titles and trophies shows where ‘becoming a champion’ means becoming the best you can be at what you choose to do."

She elaborated: "It’s about increasing resilience in young people, as well as ambition, aspirations and awareness around health issues — both physically and mentally — linked to sporting success."

During her Island tour, Jess will visit St Catherine’s, Oakfield C of E, St Saviours and Barton primary schools and Priory School.

Jess motivates kids to tackle their own adversities head-on, fostering future generations armed with courage and determination.

And her journey serves as a reminder that with perseverance, resilience, and unwavering determination, anyone can achieve greatness.

Through these visits, Jess isn't just creating kickboxing champions, but nurturing individuals prepared to overcome life’s many challenges.
