An opera choir is set to return for a one-off performance.

Project: Opera choir is staging its comeback with a debut performance of "Lighten the Darkness" at Aspire, Ryde on Saturday, March 16, at 7pm.

Composed by music director Steve Parker and written by Anthony Swaby, the Cantata for Lent is a piece of Christian music featuring SATB soloists, choir, piano and viola.

A spokesperson for the choir said: "The choir has been bringing the cantata to life through a spiritually intense blend of voices which blooms into the most angelical harmonies."

Mezzo-Soprano Clarice Williams, Tenor Jon Grave, Bass-Baritone Robert John Edwards, and Soprano Annalisa Vaughan are all expected to lead the Project: Opera Choir.

The performance, which organisers say promises to be an unforgettable experience, is aimed at supporting the Isle of Wight community with 50 per cent of the proceeds going to Aspire.

Tickets are available online at www.totalgiving.co.uk/appeal/Lightenthedarkness.

"This one-off performance is not to be missed," said the choir.
