An Isle of Wight Co-op store is closed this morning (Monday, February 26) after thieves broke into the shop in a late night burglary.

Police were called at 10.53pm last night (Sunday, February 25) to reports of a burglary at the Co-operative store on Landguard Road in Shanklin.

A spokesperson told the County Press that investigations are ongoing.

The store remains closed this morning, with a police presence at the scene and the area cordoned off.

It is the third Co-op store to be broken into this month after shops on Sandown High Street and East Cowes' York Avenue were also hit.

Two men charged in connection with the Sandown burglary were released on bail.
