Isle of Wight farmer, Sian Grove, was among a local delegation to travel to the annual NFU Conference, on February 20 and 21, at Birmingham ICC.

Over 1,250 farmers attended, including 2024's Young Farmer Ambassadors, of which Sian is a member.

Also attending the event, with its theme of British Food - What plan for the future?, was Isle of Wight NFU Chair, Robyn Munt.

Sian, who runs a flock of sheep, said: "Farming is a key part of Britain’s landscape and, as farmers and growers, we provide high quality and high welfare food for the UK, which is something we are all incredibly proud of.

"Everyone needs a farmer at least three times a day."

Questions were asked of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who also attended.

Mr Sunak told farmers food security is a vital part of national security and outlined plans to double funding for technology, including robotics, roof-top solar and agricultural research.

The Government has committed to maintaining support for English farming at pre-Brexit levels.

Meanwhile, shadow farming minister, Daniel Zeichner, talked of a reduction in imports, an environmental land management scheme, to promote green practices, and to take action on flooding.

Sian herself took over the NFU Student Farmer Instagram account.
