An Isle of Wight restaurant business is expanding by opening another eatery in the heart of another Island town.

As well as Castle Street, Ryde, Heron Isle of Wight will soon be serving up food in Cowes.

Heron Cowes is taking over 46-47 High Street - the former home of the recently-closed Gastronomy, next to The Garden.

As previously reported, the popular restaurant announced it was closing in January, with the owners citing private family health issues.

It has now been confirmed the building will stay as an eatery, but as Heron Cowes.

A post on Heron's social media said: "It's official - we've got the keys to our new location in Cowes and can't wait to fire up the grills".

Led by chef Alex Kimber, Heron, Ryde describes itself as a fine dining restaurant.

It holds two AA Rosettes and has even catered at Wimbledon during the 2023 Championships.

Heron Cowes is expected to open its doors in April.
