Isle of Wight traffic disruption on main Cowes to Newport road

Isle of Wight drivers are facing major delays on the main road between Cowes and Newport this morning (Friday).

Temporary traffic lights at Northwood are leading to tailbacks on Newport Road into Cowes Road and Horsebridge Hill.

Some motorists are reporting delays of up to 50 minutes.

It's believed the disruption is being caused by temporary lights near the road's junction with Oxford Street.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is carrying out utility repair and maintenance works.

Drivers are urged to allow time for their journeys or find an alternative route.
