THREE Islanders accused of child abduction offences will all stand trial in May.

Tyler Wilkinson, of Atkinson Drive, Newport; Guy Taylor, of Lowtherville Road, Ventnor; and Jason Paul Blake, of Cornwall Road, Ventnor, denied taking away a child in care without lawful authority, when they appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (February 6).

The alleged offences happened in Ventnor on January 2.

The ‘taking a child away’ charges relate to alleged Child Abduction Warning Notices, issued by police, that prohibit association with a specified person aged under 18 years.

Mr Wilkinson, 20, also denied shoplifting, stealing three packets of Golden Virginia tobacco, from The Central convenience store, on Newport Road, on January 1.

Mr Blake, 37, also pleaded not guilty to assaulting a man, in Ventnor, on January 5.

Mr Wilkinson and Mr Taylor were bailed to reappear for trial on May 2, while Mr Blake was bailed to reappear for trial on May 8.

The trials will take place at the same venue.
