Motorists are facing heavy traffic disruption in the centre of Ryde this afternoon (Tuesday, February 6).

A convoy of static caravans were being transported through the High Street and onto Garfield Road at around 2pm.

A witness told the County Press that the final caravan collided with a lamppost and is now stuck on the corner.

The caravan is blocking the road at the entrance of Ryde Shopping Precinct, with vehicles unable to pass onto Garfield Road.

Due to the one-way system throughout central Ryde, there is very heavy traffic building on Lind Street, George Street, Cross Street and the High Street.

Cars are attempting to divert, and it is advised to avoid the area if you can.
