ISLE of Wight mariners are advised to be ‘extremely vigilant’ today (Friday) after a large fluorescent net was lost in the Solent.  

During a trial taking place in the Eastern Solent and Southampton water, a 30-metre length of fluorescent netting has been inadvertently lost, said Southampton harbour master, Steve Masters.

Mariners are advised to be extremely vigilant when operating in Southampton waters and the Solent.

Anyone who sights the netting is asked to call Coastguard on VHF 67 and Southampton VTS on VHF 12.
