TWO teenage girls sustained minor injuries when a car crashed close to the cliff edge on the Military Road last night (Monday).

Police were called at 9.14pm to reports of a single vehicle collision involving a Ford Focus.

Two teenage girls, aged 16 and 17, suffered minor injuries, a spokesperson from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said.

Fire crews from Freshwater and Newport were sent to the scene in Brighstone.

A spokesperson from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said one of the casualties was helped out of the vehicle by paramedics as firefighters stabilised the car, due to its proximity to the edge, and made the scene safe.

The fire service left the scene at around 10pm.
