A SECTION of a footpath in the West Wight can no longer be safely accessed due to a void opening up nearby.
A section of footpath F35, running along the cliff edge by Afton Down, between Compton and Freshwater Bay, has been closed off with immediate effect.
Cllr Chris Jarman, representing Totland and Colwell, said: “A void has opened up on the verge next to F35, running south of the Military Road.
“The void will be monitored for signs of any further movement.
“The alternative route to avoid the closed section is via Byway F33 and Bridleway F34 to the north of the Military Road.”
