Firefighters are working to free a person from a vehicle following a crash in Arreton on the Isle of Wight this afternoon (Thursday).

Crews are in the process of removing the roof from one of the casualty vehicles, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed. 

There are concerns for a female passenger with a possible "spinal injury". 

Firefighters from Ryde and Shanklin were called to the scene this afternoon. 

They were sent to The Fighting Cocks public house and restaurant in Hale Common. 

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has said the accident involves four vehicles. 

Officers are on scene and a road closure of the A3056 is now in place.

UPDATE: 

The road has been re-opened, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed. 

Minor injuries have been reported.
