Temperatures dropped as low as -7C in some parts of the Isle of Wight overnight, the IW Met Service has revealed.

In Sandown, a reading of -7.6C was recorded; the lowest temperature across the Island.

This was followed by -6.9C in Chale, and -6.5C in Southwest Newport.

A reading of -6.5C was also recorded in Ashey, and temperatures dropped to -6.1C near Island Harbour.

Island Roads gritters were out in force yesterday evening, and again this morning, treating the Island’s highways.

Local forecaster, Jamie Russell, says it will be cold and cloudy tomorrow (Wednesday), with an outside chance of some light sleet or snow.

Temperatures between 2-4C are expected, with a light to moderate east, then northeast, breeze.
