WITH temperatures set to drop further over the coming days, gritters will be out this evening (Sunday).

Island Roads workers will be gritting precautionary routes and the bridge decks at Stag Lane and Foxes Road in Newport.

This will begin at 7pm, with potential snowfall forecast for tomorrow.

The IW Met Service says we can expect a few flurries on Monday, and early on Tuesday.

“There could be a slight dusting on the ground in places,” says local forecaster, Jamie Russell.

“Although chances are, it will be just few a few light flurries with nothing really accumulating, but we will keep a close eye on things.”

A yellow cold-health alert remains active for the Isle of Wight.

Issued by the Met Office, together with the UK Health and Security Agency, the alert runs until Friday (January 12) at midday.

The national forecaster has predicted a temperature drop for the Island across the next week.

A yellow cold-health alert means cold weather will primary impact those over the age of 65 or those with pre-existing health conditions.
