WHEN you are out and about around the Isle of Wight this coming week and the week after, be sure to know which roadworks to avoid in some of the major towns.

Thanks to Island Roads, we have provided a handy selection of those worth avoiding.

IN SHANKLIN:

  • Westhill Road — will close during utility works, between its junctions with Rectory Road and Westhill Manor, from 7am tomorrow (Monday) and 5pm on Friday, January 12. An alternative route will be signposted.

IN EAST COWES:

  • Castle Street — will shut during wall repair and scaffolding works, between its junctions with Ferry Road and Trinity Road, from 7am tomorrow (Monday) and 5pm on Friday, January 26. The one-way restriction along Ferry Road revoked between its junctions with Link Road and Castle Street. An alternative route will be signposted. 

IN RYDE: 

  • Rink Road —  will close during carriageway repairs, between its junctions with Rink Road industrial estate and West Hill Road, over one shift sometime between Wednesday and Friday, January 12. An alternative route will be signposted.

IN NEWPORT

  • Banner Lane — will shut during utility works, between its junction with Hunnyhill and a point 25m west thereof, between 8am on Monday, January 15, and 5pm on Monday, January 29, or when the works have been completed. The one-way restriction will be revoked, between a point 25m west of its junction with Hunnyhill and its junction with Albany Road. An alternative route will be signposted.
  • Burnt House Lane — will close during utility works, between its junction with Arreton Footpath 25 and Little Sullens access road, between 9.30am and 3.30pm on Thursday, January 18.

IN VENTNOR: 

  • Bonchurch Village Road — will close during tree works, between its junctions with Shore Road and Bonchurch Shute, from 7am on Monday, January 15, and 5pm on Friday, January 19, or when the works have been completed. An alternative route will be signposted.
