Two weather warnings for strong winds come into force for the Isle of Wight this weekend.

From this morning (Saturday), Islanders are told to expect a further spell of strong gusts.

The Met Office has said the Island is 'likely' to see delays to road, rail and ferry transport.

The forecaster's warning runs alongside an alert issued by the Isle of Wight Met Service.

Islander Jamie Russell says the worst of the weather will be between midday and 6pm on Sunday (31).

He says southwesterly winds will gust up to 60-70mph, across a wide area.

It comes just days after Storm Gerrit brought high winds to the Island.

In his forecast, Jamie said we can expect a very windy day with blustery showers.

What to expect (according to the Met Office)

  • It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves

  • Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer

  • Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely

The Met Office warning comes into force from 11am and runs until 3am on Sunday.
