AN ISLE of Wight man caught drink and drug driving on Staplers Road in a car he took without the owner's consent has been banned from the road.
Lee Williams, of Rew Street, Cowes, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on December 15.
The 38-year-old admitted drink and drug driving in Newport, on April 29.
The court heard he registered a blood-alcohol reading of 139, when the legal limit is 80, and tested positive for cannabis, exceeding the specified limit.
Williams also admitted aggravated vehicle taking, driving without a valid licence, and driving without insurance.
He unlawfully took and drove a Mazda 3 without the owner’s consent, the bench was told.
Williams was handed an 18-week prison term, suspended for 18 months, to include a nine-month alcohol treatment programme and 30 rehabilitation days.
He was disqualified from driving for 48 months and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £154 surcharge.
