A PROLIFIC Isle of Wight shoplifter has been spared an immediate jail term following high value thefts across a seven-month period.
Christopher Williams, of Fitzroy Street, Sandown, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on December 12.
The 40-year-old admitted ten counts of theft, between April 22 and October 12.
He also admitted attempted theft from a shop on April 23, and failure to surrender to court bail on October 13.
He stole goods from Sainsbury’s, TK Maxx, Co-op, and Peacocks.
Williams was handed an 18-week prison term, suspended for 12 months, to include 20 rehabilitation days.
He was also ordered to pay £1,100 compensation.
