Ryde-based charity, Aspire, is busy supporting the Island community in the run-up to Christmas.

Its food and fun project will see around 360 meals provided to children from low-income families during the holiday period, and will give them a chance to play with friends, learn new skills and even meet Santa.

Aspire’s feed a family at Christmas appeal, meanwhile, has raised more than £8,000, and will support hundreds of families, providing them with a Christmas dinner to cook and extra food over the winter period.

On Friday, December 22, the charity’s free community lunch will become a community Christmas dinner, and on Christmas Eve, volunteers will be delivering pre-cooked, frozen dinners to those who need help preparing for the big day.

Aspire is working alongside the Living Well and Early Help Service, and anyone in need of support, or keen to just get out and meet people, should call 01983 240732 or email recption@lweh.org.uk
