Our rubbish and recycling collections are changing over Christmas and the New Year, on the Isle of Wight.

All waste, recycling and garden waste collections for the Christmas week, beginning on Tuesday, December 26, run one day later than usual.

New Year's week will see collections run one day later than usual.

The dates of usual collection and new dates are as follows:

  • Tuesday, December 26 (Bank Holiday) – Wednesday, December 27
  • Wednesday, December 27 – Thursday, December 28
  • Thursday, December 28 – Friday, December 29
  • Friday, December 29 – Saturday, December 30
  • Monday, January 1 (Bank Holiday) – Tuesday, January 2
  • Tuesday, January 2 – Wednesday, January 3
  • Wednesday, January 3 – Thursday, January 4
  • Thursday, January 4 – Friday, January 5
  • Friday, January 5 – Saturday, January

Collections will return to normal from Monday, January 8.

In addition, no bulky waste or free reuse collections will be made on Tuesday, December 26, and Monday, January 1.

Polystyrene can be added to black bin or sack collections days until Friday, January 12.

If it does not fit, put it in a clear or white sack, so collection crews can easily identify it.

The clear bag must only hold polystyrene, or it won’t be collected.

If you have lots of cardboard waste, bundle it up and place it separately to the side of your recycling bin/sack on your recycling week collection.

Batteries must always be removed from electrical items before being collected, and placed in a clear sandwich bag, on top (not inside) your general waste bins or sack.

Large batteries such as laptop/phone/power tool batteries and car batteries or items where the batteries cannot be removed should be taken to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre.
