A CRASH between Sandown and Brading is causing significant traffic delays this morning (Tuesday).

The County Press understands a vehicle has come off the road on Marshcombe Shute, leading to considerable traffic disruption.

This is made worse with Morton Common still closed due to flooding in the area.

The County Press is told the road remains open and traffic is moving, but slowly.

Motorists should avoid the area if possible.

UPDATE:

The road has been partially closed by police.

Southern Vectis says, due to a lorry overturning on Marshcombe Shute, Routes 2 and 3 will now divert from Yaverland, Sandown Road past the airport, through Bembridge, Station Road and Carpenters Road, before continuing their normal route.

The operator has apologised for any inconvenience caused.

UPDATE:

Morton Common is now open one-way, from Ryde to Sandown, Southern Vectis has confirmed, which will go some way toward alleviating congestion.

Buses heading towards Ryde will divert from Sandown Victoria Road, Yaverland, Sandown Road, Steyne Road, Forelands Road, Embankment, Station Road and Carpenters Road.
