Nearly 20 staff members at the collapsed Steve Porter Transport Group have been taken on by another firm, after a deal was completed to absorb parts of the former Isle of Wight company.

Shipping specialists, Acclaim Logistics, have also acquired the former firm's Cowes depot.

Acclaim, which also has bases in Totton and Southampton, has employed nearly 20 of the Steve Porter Transport team, including former managing director, Malcolm Gibson.

At the time, 'adverse impacts' of a major ransomware attack were blamed for the collapse.

Now, Acclaim has taken on some of its assets. It said doing so will preserve key supermarket contracts and ensure the continuation of vital supply chain services.

The acquisition of the Cowes depot also increases the company's warehouse space from 8,000 sq ft to 15,000 sq ft.

Managing director of Acclaim Logistics, Thomas Flood, said: “This expansion enhances our capacity to meet growing demands and further solidifies our commitment to providing efficient and reliable logistical solutions for Island-based businesses.

“We are excited about the potential this development brings to Acclaim."

Acclaim Logistics offers parcel, pallet, groupage, and full load distribution solutions across Southampton and the Island.
