Tributes have been paid to a much-loved former Isle of Wight football player, following his death at the age of 28.

Four Island football teams came together last weekend to pay their respects to Bembridge FC's Levi Randall.

Having signed for the club in 2016, Levi played there for four seasons.

As the side's skilful number 7, he was a big part of the team's successful 2018/19 promotion campaign.

His goals helped fire his side to the Division 2 league title and the Ryde and District Cup.

In the seasons that followed, a series of serious knee injuries saw Levi's game time limited.

He would not let injuries hamper his support for his team mates, however. Levi would regularly show up to games to cheer on his team mates from the side-lines.

Justin Malin, who managed Levi, said: "I always loved having him play for me at Bembridge, he was a great lad.

"He was a very skilful player with a lot of technical ability. All his team mates loved him and he was a pleasure to have at the club.

"He will be greatly missed and thoughts are with his family."

Levi died on Tuesday, November 21.

A minute's silence was held at Steyne Park, home of Bembridge FC, on Saturday, November 25.

Bembridge's first team and reserves came together to pay their respects, as did Shanklin Football Club and High Park FC.

Players also wore black arm bands and his friends and family let off balloons in tribute.

His partner Jade Goodall was presented with his number 7 shirt.

The club said it will be presented to his son, Cohen, when he is a bit older.

  • Levi's family has asked us to share the details of his funeral. It will take place on December 13, at Holy Trinity Church, Bembridge, at 1pm. There will be a gathering afterwards, at Sandown Boulevard, Culver Parade, Sandown.
