A two-car crash on a major Isle of Wight road yesterday afternoon (Monday, November 27) prompted an emergency response from police and fire teams.

Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Lushington Hill, near the Racecourse Roundabout between Newport and Wootton, at 4.45pm.

Newport firefighters were also sent, but police officers were able to resolve the incident, and crews were stood down before arrival.

A police spokesperson told the County Press the crash was described as a ‘damage only collision’ between two cars.

Thankfully, the occupants inside both vehicles avoided injury and were just very shaken following the incident.

Lushington Hill was cleared, and normal traffic continued.
