A WOMAN from the Isle of Wight already handed a motoring ban, has been warned she may face imprisonment for a string of drug-drive offences in her Mini which pre-dated the disqualification.

Sian Parsons, of High Street, Godshill, admitted four drug-drive offences on Pan Lane, Newport, on August 20, when she appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court.

She appeared before magistrates in September, where she was disqualified from driving for a year for driving whilst unfit through drugs in Godshill on June 23.

The new offences pre-date the ban.

Police followed Parsons, who had a passenger, from Newport's Blackwater Road to Pan Lane, and pulled her over because she had a defective rear brake light.

Police then suspected she had been under the influence of drugs, but Parsons made multiple claims she had not taken any.

However, Parsons subsequently failed a roadside drugs swipe, said Lauren Stone, prosecuting on November 17.

Following her arrest, with drugs tests carried out at Newport Police Station, Parsons provided multiple readings for illicit substances.

They included 185 ug/L for morphine (the legal limit being 80), 23 ug/L for cocaine (the limit is 10), together with 800 ug/L for cocaine derivative BZE (the limit is 50) and 2.3 ug/L for cannabis derivative THC (the limit is 2).

"There is high culpability due to the amount of drugs in her system — and that she was carrying a passenger in her car," stressed Miss Stone to the bench.

For Parsons, Oscar Vincent said his client had moved to the Island from Sussex as an escape from significant domestic violence.

Mr Vincent said Parsons is currently recovering from drug abuse on an Inclusion programme and responding well.

In her previous appearance before magistrates, Parsons was deemed unfit to drive in Godshill on June 23, the police stated.

Magistrates ordered a report on Parsons, covering all sentencing options, including imprisonment, and bailed her to reappear at the same venue on January 5, 2024.

Although she is serving a driving ban, magistrates also ordered an interim disqualification.
