A 93-year-old Carisbrooke woman, known for writing about travel, has released her first romance novel.

June Elford is the creative force behind Tomorrow May Never Come, which weaves together the lives of three characters in Scotland, Australia, Hong Kong and Korea, in the 1950s.

Simon is posted to Korea, leaving Lisa to face life alone as a service wife. When her car breaks down and a stranger named James stops to help, her life takes a different turn.

The story follows a trail of heartbreak, as Lisa risks everything in her search for happiness.

The book encompasses the war in Korea and the 'Ten Pound Poms' who emigrated to Australia.

June is previously responsible for Isle of Wight - Gem of the Solent, jointly with illustrator Steve Gascoigne, in 2014, and has written for The Lady, Yachting World, Choice and more.

June's career began after she took a creative writing course in 1987, following her BA(Hons) Open University degree, in 1982.

This novel draws from her travel knowledge, early married army life and lots of research.

She said: "Tomorrow May Never Come is my first venture into fiction.

"Perhaps I am a late bloomer, at 93?"
