A fire in a cell prompted an emergency response to the Isle of Wight's prison this afternoon (Tuesday).

Firefighters were called to reports of a "small fire" in a cell at HMP Isle of Wight, at 1.20pm.

Six appliances from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were initially called.

The fire service said only two engines, from Newport Fire Station,  and an officer, attended.

Crews left the incident by 1.34pm.

No one was hurt, the fire service said.
