A popular Isle of Wight restaurant and takeaway has announced its shock and sudden closure today (Monday, November 20).

The Lime and Chilli Restaurant - which opened in August 2021 on Seaview High Street - serves authentic and traditional Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine.

The restaurant is well-known by customers for mixing new ideas with traditional recipes.

The alcohol-free eatery, which invites customers to bring their own beverages, confirmed on its Facebook page this afternoon that it was shutting down.

A statement posted on its social media page reads: “Dear customers, we are shutting down the restaurant and takeaway permanently from 20th November.

“Sorry for any inconvenience. Thank you for your support.”

Customers have been leaving their thoughts under the statement, sharing their shock at the sudden closure and how much they enjoyed the restaurant’s ‘delicious food’, with others saying it was the 'best on the Island'.
