The Isle of Wight Floating Bridge has been suspended this evening (Monday, November 13).

The County Press has been told that concerns were raised after a constant and unusual 'banging noise' could be heard when the ferry's throttle was in use.

It is hoped that the banging may go away at high tide, but there is currently no confirmation on when the service might return.

Engineers are on site, with the Floating Bridge stranded on the East Cowes side of the Medina.

The Jenny Lee service is in operation for foot passengers and cyclists, but those hoping to cross the river should expect a 20 minute wait.

Due to adverse weather suspending Red Jet sailings from Cowes, cross-Solent passengers were being directed to the Floating Bridge to board the vehicle ferry from East Cowes.

However, the Red Jet service is now back to schedule, Red Funnel has confirmed.
