An Isle of Wight band has secured an exciting opportunity to play at The Beatles' former haunt, The Cavern Club in Liverpool.

Stoical rehearsal attendance and event performances have established a community based collective, The Ryde Ukelele Group, known as the RUG Band.

They are known for including bass, fiddle, flute, percussion, banjolele, melodica and more in their music.

The RUG Band will be playing at The Cavern Club on November 16.

The club was synonymous with the Merseybeat music genre between 1961 and 1963.

The underground cellar bar, modelled on a Paris jazz club, became a popular hangout for the Beatles, who played many a lunch time gig, and were first seen at The Cavern Club by Brian Epstein, their future manager.

The RUG Band will be playing in support of The Purple Gang.
