WHEN you are out and about around the Isle of Wight this coming week, be sure to know which roadworks to avoid in some of the major towns.

Thanks to Island Roads, we have provided a handy selection of those worth avoiding.

IN EAST COWES: 

The following roads will be shut during carriageway maintenance works, for days, nights or both, for about four weeks, until Friday, December 22, with adverse weather having an impact on the programme:

  • Victoria Grove — on the southern side, along its entire length.
  • Adelaide Grove — on the western side, along its entire length.
  • Yarborough Road — on the southern side, along its entire length.
  • Clarence Road — on the eastern side, along its entire length; and on the western side, between its junctions with York Avenue and School Hill Road.
  • York Avenue — on the northern side, between its junctions with Well Road and Clarence Road.

IN VENTNOR:

  • High Street — will shut during utility works, between its junctions with Tulse Hill and Spring Hill, from 7pm today (Monday) until 6.30am tomorrow (Tuesday). An alternative route will be signposted. 
  • Bath Road — will close during parapet works, along its entire length, from 12.01am today (Monday) until 11.59pm on Saturday, December 2. An alternative route will be signposted. 

IN RYDE:

  • Nelson Crescent — will shut during utility works, along its entire length, from 8am on Wednesday until 4pm on Tuesday, November 28. An alternative route will be signposted. 
  • Upton Road — will close during utility works, between its junctions with Pound mead and Windmill Close, from 8am today (Monday) until 6pm on Friday, March 29, 2024. An alternative route will be signposted. 
  • Great Preston Road — will shut during carriageway repair works, between its junctions with Gassiot Green Road and High Park Road, over one shift, sometime between today (Monday) and Wednesday. An alternative route will be signposted. 

IN COWES:

  • Shooters Hill — will close during utility works, along its entire length, between today (Monday) and Wednesday. An alternative route will be signposted. 
  • High Street — the one-way restriction will be lifted along it between its junctions with The Cut and Shooters Hill, to allow access to premises and businesses during utility works, between today (Monday) and Wednesday. An alternative route will be signposted. 
  • Egypt Hill — will shut during carriageway repair works, between its junctions with Baring Road and Marine View Close, over one shift sometime between today (Monday) and Wednesday. An alternative route will be signposted. 
  • Thetis Road — will close during carriageway repair works, along its entire length, over one shift sometime between Wednesday and Friday, November 17. There is no alternative route.

IN SANDOWN:

  • Bembridge Road — will shut during drainage works, between its junctions with Culver Down Road and Sandown Road, over one shift sometime between today (Monday) and Wednesday. An alternative route will be signposted. 

IN YARMOUTH:

  • The Quay — will close during utility works, along its entire length, from 8am today (Monday) until 4pm on Wednesday, November 22. An alternative route will be signposted.
