A man had to be rescued after getting stuck in the mud on the Isle of Wight today (Saturday).

Fire, Coastguard and RNLI crews were called to Nodes Point, near Priory Bay at 11.10am.

HM Coastguard coordinated the rescue.

Ventnor and Needles Coastguard Rescue teams attended, alongside Bembridge RNLI lifeboat.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was also sent.

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said the man was freed from the mud by firefighters.

He was then ferried via the lifeboat and passed into the care of the waiting Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
