A 20-YEAR-OLD paedophile caught on the Isle of Wight while in possession of child sexual assault images and videos, including some of babies, has been spared an immediate jail term.

Cameron William Mackenzie, of Jubilee Court, Hatfield, appeared before a judge at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Wednesday, November 8.

At a previous hearing at the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court, he admitted three counts of making indecent photographs/pseudo-photographs of children.

In October, Lauren Stone, prosecuting, said Mackenzie was arrested on July 1, 2022, after police were alerted by an upload he made to social media.

Ms Stone told the court that between March 29 and July 1, 2022, on the Isle of Wight, Mackenzie made 40 images of category A (the most serious category) and nine images of category B, with 12 moving images of category A and two moving images of category B.

The prosecution said police determined that some of the photos were of children between one and two years old.

Appearing for sentencing, Mackenzie was handed a 14-month prison term, suspended for 24 months, to include 60 rehabilitation days and 200 hours of unpaid work.

He was made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must register with police for the next ten years.
